For event owners
Technical community events bring together a large number of
professionals in one location, and what better time to give back to
the community? GeekGive, who's mission is to facilitate
non-technical community projects at community events, helps to
provide this opportunity as well as additional networking and time
to experience more of the local culture. And you don't need to
worry about working another activity into your already tight
schedule either; GeekGive events do not occur on conference days
unless you want them to.
GeekGive projects are not possible without your help
though. One of our biggest needs is simply getting the word out
about these unique opportunities. Therefore the only thing we ask
from you is your assistance in spreading the word to your
attendees and speakers about the GeekGive volunteer project. This
may include email notifications, a blurb on the registration page,
and/or a banner on the event website. That's it. We take care of
arranging a notable and respected charity (suggestions are
welcome), soliciting the required sponsorship, and arranging
transportation, food, and supplies. If you would like to contribute
funds or resources however, we do offer the added benefit of having
your event name and logo printed on the project t-shirts.
